Cádiz, is it?

There was an Old Person of Cadiz,

Who was always polite to all ladies;

But in handing his daughter, he fell into the water,

Which drowned that Old Person of Cadiz.

It’s /ˈkɑːdɪð/, dear Mr Lear, not /ˈkeɪdɪz/. You could have rhymed it with ‘laddies’, but, of course, you would never have trodden on that woodworm infested plank yourself, would you? Thought not. A scan reading exercise for Advanced students.
